A volume “The Programme of Basic Research of the Presidium of RAS” is developed according to the assigned task of the Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences and presents brief summary reports on basic research programmes of RAS in 2012.

Programmes of basic research are set up in compliance with the priority areas of basic research in the natural and social sciences and humanities. The research results in these priorities are expected to contribute in further R&D and innovation activity in Russia.

Programmes of basic research of RAS aggregate research projects of interdisciplinary and interregional character, performed by the research organisations of RAS branches, the regional branches of RAS, and the regional research centres of RAS.

In 2012, RAS Presidium adopted 38 programmes of basic research. The brief summary reports of the programmes describe the most significant results obtained by the research institutes in 2012.
